On the 2nd of May 2015, Child Support-Ghana celebrated its 10th anniversary. The party started at 10:30 AM and the presenters Sheila and Rukaya welcomed all the dignitaries and guests from abroad. Unfortunately, the local dignitaries did not show up, which was embarrassing.
Trudy van Arkel, who came all the way from Holland with her husband Ton gave us a powerful opening  prayer. The presenters also welcomed the director and founder of Child Support Mr. Eric Coomans (Papa) to deliver a speech in which he encouraged the authorities and parents to protect their children. After his speech, he invited the Deputy Ambassador of the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mrs. Caecila Wijgers, to unveil a signboard on one of the homes. The work of Child Support in Wa has been inspired by the late Nelson Mandela’s ideas about the protection of children. The home was renamed as “Mandela’s Dream“…. Mrs. Wijgers in her speech, also emphasized on the need of protection of children and the Dutch Government is supporting projects about Child Protection.

After the official part, the children of Child Support showed their talents to the people with a play, dances and poems. After the entertainment programma, the Regional Director of the Ministry of Children thanked Child Support for their support in difficult work of the Ministry. She also was disappointed by the fact that the Regional and Local policymakers did not appear at the celebration to support the protection of children.
In his closing remarks, the co-director and co-founder of Child Support Rev. Daniel Seidu memorized the history of Child Support and the need of support from the Government. He said that he was happy and proud to be part of the Child Support Family.
All children, housemothers and foreign guest enjoyed a wonderful meal, donated by one of the guests.
