Update January 2015
It’s time to give our readers an update of things that have happened here in Wa. Two children have left our programme. Babadaara Numbo Saah Naah (16) and Joyce Tapinadaare (16) have gone back to their families. Their performances and motivation to go to school was very poor and their families agreed to send them back to their villages. The families promised to encourage them to complete their current education.
New children came to join our programma. El-Lahan Mustapha (7), Cecilia Takyiere (10), Calista Billey (7), Cornelia Mulimga (12), Salma Alhassan (10) and Grace Sooresan (15) were placed by the Department of Social Welfare in our custody. All children are going to school and are doing very well.
Joseph Kpirigo temporarily joined our staff as an assistant of the Director. He will help to start a programme for the girls who will be 18 years this academic and will leave our programme. We intend to rent a house for them because Child Support is not allowed to keep children at the age of 18 years and older. We will start this programme in close collaboration with the Department of Gender in Wa.
In 2015 Child Support will celebrate its 10 year’s anniversary. We have exciting plans and we’ll keep you informed in our website! The thread of ebola in West Africa is vanishing and we hope that volunteers will come to help us in the near future. We wish all our supporters abroad a Happy and successful New Year and hope you will support us in 2015!
